 Lake Kabetogama

One of the top walleye lakes in Minnesota, Lake Kabetogama is along the U.S. – Canadian border.  Kabetogama
has a 500-mile long rocky shoreline, 25,000 acres of clean, cool water and is one of five major lakes that
make up Voyageurs National Park.  Kabetogama is 22 miles long by 6 miles wide and has 200 islands.

Born of an ancient glacier flow, edged by the Great Canadian Shield, Kabetogama Lake is surrounded by wilderness
untamed by time. Aspen, White pine, Norway pine, and Birch trees dominate the landscape. Wildlife include deer,
bear, moose, timber wolf and numerous bird species.

Kabetogama lake itself is dotted with over 200 remote, scenic islands that maintain their beauty through harsh winter
storms and produce rich foliage and wild berries in the summer.

Established in 1975, Minnesota's only national park commemorates a key stretch of waterway canoed by 18th
century French-Canadian Voyageurs who transported goods and furs along the border waters.
